It is thus central to effective patient care. Patients across Europe have the right to expect high standards of Laboratory medicine wherever they are in the healthcare system. In the field of clinical biochemistry, a new generation of doctors is missing. The current generation of experienced professionals lacks successors and followers. The upcoming generation of doctors has high expectations and different tastes. They need to find new approaches, meaningful work, and to reach social prestige.
