Abstract

Cailletet apparatus for the liquefaction of gases. The presented item is the main part of the device, with the use of which, in April 1883 in Kraków, physicist Karol Olszewski (1846-1915) and chemist Zygmunt Wróblewski (1845-1888) for the first time obtained a small amount of liquid oxygen, and in subsequent experiments, liquid nitrogen and carbon monoxide.
