
En octubre de 1557, el jesuita Francisco Vieira llegaba a Ternate, una de las Islas de las Molucas. Dos años después, escribe una carta a sus compañeros en Portugal en la que les narra sus experiencias en este lugar, entre ellas la ceremonia del bautismo de Fátima, la hija de sultán Hiarun, la cual se casó con el rey de Bacan que se había convertido al cristianismo en 1557. In October 1557, the Jesuit Francisco Vieira arrived in Ternate, one of the Moluccas Islands. Two years later, he wrote a letter to his companions in Portugal in which he recounted his experiences in this place, including the ceremony of the baptism of Fatima, the daughter of Sultan Hiarun, who married the King of Bacan who had converted to Christianity in 1557.
