Abstract

In December 1726, Pope Benedict XIII raised the Jesuits Luis Gonzaga and Estanislao Kostka to the altars. In Salamanca, the Society of Jesus carefully prepared the celebrations with the adornment of the church, the school and the saints. For the general procession, different agents were responsible for the elaboration of ephemeral altars in the street and the ornamentation of the route. The transfer of the saints and the announcement from the towers of the Society of Jesus church and from the cathedral preluded the beginning of the celebrations.
