CARACTERIZACIÓN DE LA COMUNIDAD DE FITOPLANCTON EN LA BAHÍA DE CARTAGENA, CARIBE COLOMBIANO, DURANTE LAS ÉPOCAS SECA Y LLUVIOSA

Abstract

Con el propósito de determinar la composición, abundancia y distribución espacial de la comunidad de fitoplancton en la bahía de Cartagena, en dos épocas climáticas del año 2014 (periodo seco y lluvioso), se realizaron muestreos de agua superficial (un metro de profundidad) en los meses de marzo y noviembre del mencionado año, empleando botella Niskin, en 15 estaciones de la bahía de Cartagena. Se utilizó un volumen de 250 mL para el análisis de fitoplancton, el cual fue inicialmente, sedimentado durante 72 horas, para posteriormente formar una submuestra de 25 mL con la cual identificar y cuantificar el microfitoplancton con cámara Sedgwick Rafter. En este estudio, se registraron en total 128 taxa, agrupados así: dinoflagelados 63, diatomeas centrales 43, diatomeas pennadas 17, 3 clorofitas y 2 cianobacterias. Las regiones nororiental y suroriental (influenciadas por el mar Caribe) obtuvieron la mayor riqueza con 41 especies, en la época lluviosa, mientras que en la época seca la mayor riqueza, con 35 especies se obtuvo, en la región oriental (zona industrial de Mamonal). Las regiones influenciadas por el Canal del Dique presentaron las mayores abundancias en las dos épocas del año con 12.083 cel.L-1 en la época seca y 151.250 cel.L-1 en la época lluviosa. El grupo de los dinoflagelados predominó en la época seca y gran parte de las estaciones en la época lluviosa. Las diatomeas centrales solo obtuvieron abundancias significativas en el periodo lluvioso en estaciones con influencia del mar Caribe.
