Abstract

El Área de Conservación Regional Choquequirao fue establecida mediante Decreto Supremo n.° 022-2010-MINAM el 24 de diciembre de 2010, cuenta con 103 814,39 hectáreas y se ubica en los distritos de Mollepata y Santa Teresa, en las provincias de Anta y La Convención, departamento de Cusco. Dentro del Área de Conservación Regional Choquequirao (ACR Choquequirao) se encuentra ubicado el Parque Arqueológico de Choquequirao, localizado en el sector sur de la cordillera de Vilcabamba, en el departamento de Cusco, el cual abarca un total de 522 878,30 hectáreas; en el ACR Choquequirao están presentes 10 tipos de ecosistemas, distribuidos entre los 1 500 y 5 800 m.s.n.m. Entre ellos están presentes importantes bosques prístinos, como los bosques montano y altimontano de yunga, y los bosques estacionalmente secos interandinos, además de zonas de matorrales y pajonales, que albergan una alta diversidad de flora y fauna con altos niveles de endemismo. En ese sentido, la presente guía de campo pretende cubrir los huecos de información del ACR y puede ser usada como una herramienta para determinar las especies representativas de flora y fauna de los distintos sectores del ACR.
