Abstract

Der heute halbierte Porträtkopf eines Kindes aus porösem Kalkstein ist ein typisches Beispiel der römischen Kunst aus der Stadt Palmyra: Das Porträt weist keine individuellen Züge auf und ist stark plastisch ausgearbeitet. Da die meisten römischen Porträts aus Palmyra als Reliefschmuck auf Platten zum Verschließen von Gräbern dienten, ist dies auch für diesen Kopf anzunehmen. Reste einer flachen Platte hinter dem linken Ohr bestätigen diese Annahme. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
