Taphura maculata Sanborn, 2011 Taphura maculata Sanborn 2011: 411 (type material in UGCA, LSAM and AFSC). Type locality. French Guiana, Belizone, Montagues de Tortue, 427 m, 4°14’42”N, 52°35’06”W. Remarks. The claspers bend at a right angle at about half their length, a condition unique in the genus. The spots on the head are found only in this species and T. boulardi. Distribution. The species is currently known only from the type series collected in French Guiana (Sanborn 2011).
