Una aviación en la frontera: la aeronáutica militar en la Guerra de Marruecos (1912-1927)

Abstract

En 1924 el Estado Mayor Central del Ejército reconocía la aeronáutica como una nueva arma en su doctrina para el empleo táctico de las armas y servicios; tan sólo habían pasado 13 años desde que se había graduado la primera promoción de pilotos militares. Durante ese tiempo la aviación pasó de ser considerada una plataforma móvil de observación y bombardeo a llevar a cabo las principales misiones que hoyen día sigue desempeñando. Concurrieron diversas circunstancias para que fuese posible ese cambio de modelo: el escenario marroquí, la recuperación de lo perdido en Annual que obligó a un esfuerzo militar de gran magnitud, los jóvenes oficiales recién formados como pilotos, el material aeronáutico que se utilizó, de eficacia contrastada en los campos de batalla de la Gran Guerra. Esos factores, unidos a la resolución de los aviadores destinados en Marruecos permitieron que se ensayasen con éxito misiones como el ataque a tierra, bombardeos nocturnos, apoyo logístico a posiciones y a columnas en movimiento, asistencia sanitaria, etc
