Abstract

Phryganogryllacris truncata sp. nov. ḆṞIJaedz Figure 14 Description. Male. Body medium. Face ovoid with impressed scattered dots; fastigium frontis separated from fastigium verticis by a very fine suture (Fig. 14A). Ocelli distinct, median ocellus slightly larger than lateral ocelli (Fig. 14A). Anterior margin of pronotum ached projecting in middle, posterior margin nearly straight (Fig. 14B); lateral lobes longer than high, anterior angle widely rounded, posterior angle rounded angular, humeral sinus shallow (Fig. 14C). Wings reaching the middle area of hind tibiae. Fore coxae with 1 small spine; fore and middle femora unarmed, tibiae ventrally with 4 pairs of spurs and 1 pair of apical spurs; dorsal surface of middle tibiae with 1 internal spine. Hind femora with 4 internal and 3 external spines on ventral surface; dorsal surface of tibiae with 5 internal and 6 external spines, apices with 1 pair of dorsal spurs and 2 pairs of ventral spurs, ventral surface with 1 pair of long subapical spurs. Second and third abdominal tergites each with two rows of stridulatory pegs (Fig. 14D). Eighth abdominal tergite prolonged (Fig. 14F). Ninth abdominal tergite semi-globular, prolonged ventrad, ventro-lateral angle each with 1 compressed process curved outward, its apices sclerotized (Fig. 14H). Subgenital plate inverted trapezoidal, basal margin wider, the lateral margins narrowing, posterior margin straight (Fig. 14I). Styli stout, inserted at apico-lateral angles of subgenital plate. Female. Unknown. Coloration. Body yellowish green when ablive. Eyes black. Measurements (mm). Male: BL 16.02, PL 3.79, TL 17.05, HFL 9.41. Material examined. Holotype: male, Xima, Yingjiang, Yunnan, July 15, 2023, coll. by Weizhong Yang. Distribution. Yunnan (Yingjiang). Discussion. The new species differs from Phryganogryllacris superangulata Gorochov, 2005 by male ninth abdominal tergite unconspicuous projecting in lateral view, the processes of the tergite short with stout apices (Fig. 14G); posterior margin of male subgenital plate truncate (Fig. 14I). Etymology. The new species' name refers to male subgenital plate with posterior margin truncate.
