Abstract

Dohrniphora orthogramma sp. n. (Figs 35–36) Species recognition. This species can be recognized by the dark brown color and the long, unusually straight row of peglike setae on the hind femur. Description. Body length: 1.72–2.34 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae straight. Flagellomere 1 round, brown. Palpus of normal size, light brown. Thorax: Scutum brown. Scutellum brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-third length of posterior seta. Pleuron brown. Mean costal length 0.53 wing length, range 0.52–0.55. Halter light brown. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellowishbrown. Foretibia with 3–4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa brown. Hind coxal lobe brown, rounded dorsally, with narrow ventral process. Posterior face of hind femur with straight single row of peglike setae paralleling ventral margin of hind femur (Figs 35–36). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few longer setae on segment 5. Male terminalia brown, cercus yellow. Distribution. Western Colombia. Derivation of specific epithet. From Greek words for straight line, referring to the arrangement of peglike setae on the hind femur. Holotype. ♂, COLOMBIA: Valle de Cauca: PNN Farallones de Cali, Anchicaya, 3.43°N, 76.80°W, 25.x– 8.xi.2000, S. Sarria, 650 m, Malaise trap CAP-1111 [LACM ENT 154222] (IAVH). Paratypes. COLOMBIA: Chocó: PNN Utría, Sendero Cocalito, 6.02°N, 77.35°W, 1♂, 26.xii–1.ii.2001, J. Perez, 20 m, Malaise trap, CAP-1342; Valle de Cauca: PNN Farallones de Cali, Anchicaya, 3.43°N, 76.80°W, 1♂, 25.x–8.xi.2000, 2♂, 21.xi–19.xii.2000, 1♂, 2–16.i.2001, 1♂, 17–31.vii.2001, 1♂, 16–31.x.2001, S. Sarria, 650–900m, Malaise trap, CAP-1111, 1542, 1545, 2838, 2892 (LACM, IAVH).
