
The falcata sword was mainly used in the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal) in the prerroman times and, after that, by the Carthagenese armies. After the conquest of the peninsula by the Roman Republic, during the Punic wars, was adopted with some changes in its shape by the roman armies as the sword known as Gladius.
