Metadata for ecological condition variables for use in Norway

Abstract

The dataset contains the metadata for variables measuring ecological condition that are relevant for use i Norway. This includes variables that have been used or suggested for use in connection with the Nature Index of Norway, variables that have been used or suggested for use in connection with Norway's implementation of EU's Water Framework Directive, and mandatory and optional variables suggested by Eurostat. The variables have been evaluated for their applicabiity to an ecosystem condition accounting according to the SEEA EA standard. The metadata provided per variable are its name, description, unit, directionality, data source(s), applicability to different ecosystem types, spatial and temporal resolution, definition of reference value, Ecosystem Condition Typology class, compliance with SEEA EA, and several others.

The OpenDocument spreadsheet "metadata.ods" contains the metadata for variables measuring ecological condition that are in use or have been suggested for use i Norway. The columns and the nature of the variables are explained in remarks in the column headings.
