Adoption of OSS projects in Software Engineering Higher Education: An Approach based on the Instructor Profile

Abstract

Esta tese de doutorado investiga como e a partir de quais elementos pode ser incentivada a adoção de projetos Free/Libre/Open Source Software (FLOSS) no processo de ensino e aprendizagem de Engenharia de Software (ES). Nosso principal objetivo é apoiar a adoção contínua de projetos FLOSS na Educação em Engenharia de Software (EES) com base no perfil dos professores que lecionam ES em cursos de graduação no Brasil. Atualizamos um mapeamento sistemático da literatura sobre o uso de projetos open source na EES, aplicamos um questionário para identificação e classificação do perfil dos professores de ES no Brasil, considerando o domínio de conteúdo de ES, domínio técnico de FLOSS e domínio pedagógico. Em seguida, aplicamos técnicas de mineração de dados e aprendizado de máquina para mapear os perfis de professores e dois estudos de caso para coletar relatos de experiência de professores e alunos. Estamos realizando um estudo observacional com um professor experiente em FLOSS e no uso de projetos de código aberto na EES. Utilizaremos nossas descobertas para definir a proposta de um modelo para orientar a adoção de projetos FLOSS e práticas de sala de aula, com base em diferentes perfis de professores. Por fim, realizaremos uma avaliação com especialistas para validar o modelo proposto, e um estudo de caso para avaliar a estrutura proposta.
