Abstract

Este trabajo analiza las crónicas escritas por José Ingenieros durante su primer viaje a Europa, en 1905 - 1906, publicadas inicialmente en el diario LA NACIÓN de Buenos Aires y posteriormente en el libro AL MARGEN DE LA CIENCIA (1908). El análisis se organiza en torno a cuatro ejes que unifican las distintas crónicas del volumen, escritas en diferentes fechas y lugares. Esos ejes son: la mirada estética que Ingenieros comparte con el modernismo de raíz rubendariana, la mirada cientificista propia de su formación profesional de corte positivista, la relación del viajero con el espacio visitado (Europa) y el lugar de partida que es también puerto final (Buenos Aires) y la interpretación del viaje a Europa como parte de la tarea ?civilizadora? en que Ingenieros se muestra un heredero de la actitud sarmientina.
