Current events in Ukraine are characterized by difficult life circumstances and an uncertain future, a sense of loss of control over one's own life. All of this hinders the satisfaction of a person's need for psychological security. However, there are factors that can help overcome negative feelings and provide an opportunity to reduce internal tension. Such a factor is the internal locus of control of the individual. According to the concept of J. Rotter, the internal locus of control determines the individual's awareness of the ability to influence the events of his or her own life, to adapt quickly and respond to changes in a timely manner. It ensures a constructive reaction to stress, helps to make decisions effectively, improves mental and physical health, and creates optimistic expectations about future.
