Abstract

O uso de radionuclídeos é uma prática comum para diagnósticos por imagem e para tratamentos de distúrbios da tireoide, sendo os isótopos 123I e 131I muito utilizados para cada um desses fins, respectivamente. Embora seu uso seja justificado, do ponto de vista de proteção radiológica e para o caso de pacientes gestantes, um cuidado maior deve ser tomado. A fim de avaliar a exposição de gestantes nesses procedimentos, foi realizado um estudo através de simulações computacionais utilizando o código MCNPX2.7.0, um objeto simulador baseado em voxels de uma mulher grávida e modelos matemáticos das fontes de 123I e 131I que foram posicionadas na tireoide. Os maiores valores S (em mSv/MBq.s) foram obtidos para o 131I em todos os tecidos observados, superando em uma ordem de grandeza os valores para o 123I. Para a mãe e para o feto, respectivamente, foram obtidos os valores de corpo inteiro de 1,9E-4 e 4,0E-7 usando 131I, e 6,4E-5 e 5,2E-8 usando 123I.
