Data from automated sensors measuring parking lot occupancy are examined. Data come from eight different touristic parking areas in Germany. Manual counts were performed to validate automatic sensor data. Data show unsystematic and erratic drifts in the counts, leading to inaccurate occupancy data. Without further correction, data from sensors cannot be used for tourism recommender systems.
