RESUME Un nouveau genre de poissons percoides, represente par une nouvelle espece, a ete decouvert dans l'Oligocene terminal d'Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhone), pendant les fouilles du chemin du Pin. Toutefois les specimens adultes avaient ete initialement confondus avec l'espece « Properca » beaumonti (Agassiz, 1836) et les juveniles avec Dapalis macrurus (Agassiz, 1836). Leur reexamen a montre que ces poissons, qui sont decrits ici sous le nom de Pharisatichthys aquensis n. gen., n. sp. sont les plus anciens representants indiscutablement connus des Gerreidae, une famille largement repandue actuellement dans les eaux tropicales.
