In dit artikel tracht ik op basis van de bestaande literatuur een verklaring te geven voor de hoogte van het inkomen van de openbare accountant. Ik laat zien dat de transacties vastgelegd in accountingsystemen over de tijd in complexiteit zijn toegenomen. Deze toename vraagt om meer getalenteerde accountants. Echter, het aantal beschikbare accountants met zo’n talent is beperkt. Deze schaarste stuwt de prijs omhoog.
