De traditioneel FInancieel-administratief georiënteerde control-concepten hebben slechts oog voor een deel van het control-vraagstuk. Simons’ ‘levers of control’ verrijkt en verruimt traditionele concepten door rekening te houden met de omgevingsdynamiek. Na een management buy-out scherpt het management de control-systemen aan. In dit artikel gaan de auteurs aan de hand van vier casestudies na of Simons’ ‘levers of control’ herkenbaar zijn bij het implementeren en het aanpassen van de strategie na een buy-out en of er samenhang te constateren is tussen de strategie en de gehanteerde control-mix.
