Monitoreo del suelo de áreas sembradas con maíz híbrido y su refugio en Calimete, Matanzas

Abstract

En Cuba se implementa un Sistema para el Monitoreo y Vigilancia de efectos adversos de cultivos modificados genéticamente. Una de las herramientas para tales fines es el monitoreo caso específico, que permite verificar los resultados de la Estimación de Riesgo Ambiental o llenar los vacíos en la misma. El compartimento del suelo, y en particular su microfauna, constituyen metas de protección por su importancia en la sostenibilidad y funcionabilidad de los agroecosistemas. La investigación tuvo como objetivo establecer una línea base del suelo en un área sembrada con maíz híbrido (MIR162 X TC1507) y su refugio. Se seleccionó la Empresa Azucarera Jesús Sablón Moreno, ubicada en el municipio Calimete, provincia Matanzas. Se monitoreó el suelo de dos áreas, una sembrada con el híbrido y otra con el refugio; en ambas se investigaron la fauna asociada, porciento de retención de agua, pH y la actividad de la comunidad microbiana a través de su respiración. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron establecer las características físicas, químicas y biológicas para evaluar el impacto de este cultivo en el suelo. Se estableció la línea base en el área muestreada con maíz híbrido (MIR162 X TC1507) y su refugio.
