Abstract

Las técnicas de teledetección o percepción remota se pueden usar para la estimación de variables de calidad del agua como clorofila, partículas suspendidas totales y transparencia de agua. Este artículo presenta algoritmos empíricos para su estimación que utilizan los datos del sensor Operational Land Imager (OLI, por sus siglas en inglés), del satélite Landsat 8/LCDM. Los datos se tomaron en el lago Chinchaycocha, pues el mismo presenta sustancias nutritivas que generan el aumento de la producción de algas y otras plantas acuáticas, las cuales deterioran la calidad del agua. Se obtuvieron ecuaciones empíricas para estimar la clorofila a partir de la relación en los valores de reflectividad, con la utilización del método de Chávez, entre las bandas 3 y 5 del sensor OLI; la transparencia mediante el disco de secchi, por la de la influencia en las bandas 3 y 4, y partículas totales suspendidas de la influencia en la banda 5; todo lo cual arrojó como resultado mapas del lago Chinchaycocha donde se muestran los valores de estos parámetros de calidad del agua. La investigación valida la efectividad de las técnicas utilizadas.
