In Norway, basement walls are often insulated on the warm side of a load bearing concrete wall. This is achieved by building an insulated wood frame wall next to the concrete. Such walls can get moisture and mould problems in wooden sills and studs, especially if rain in the building period has caused initially high moisture content. In this project, temperature and moisture profiles throughout a basement wall in a new single family house have been measured. The paper presents data from the first year. In addition, the paper presents simulations of temperature and moisture profiles in the wall. The simulations are done with the computer program WUFI 2D (www.wufi.no). The purpose of the project is to verify that sills and studs in this kind of walls are able to dry out after an initially high moisture content.
