Abstract

Cet article présente l’évolution de la cartographie réalisée auprès des sociétés traditionnelles, prenant comme exemple le cas de l’Afrique subsaharienne. Les réflexions menées ces dernières décennies sur le sujet ont privilégié dans le contexte américain. Cependant le contexte africain constitue un cas intéressant pour analyser le développement d’une cartographie alternative à celle du modèle colonial, réalisée par des individus n’appartenant pas au milieu de la cartographie institutionnelle, de matrice occidentale.
