On the taxonomy of the Brunia Moore generic complex with the description of a new genus, a new subgenus and four new species (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae: Lithosiini: Lithosiina)

Abstract

The taxonomy of the Brunia Moore, 1878 generic complex is discussed and a new genus, a new subgenus of Brunia and four new species are described: Brunia (Brunikatha) subgen. n. (type species: Katha montana Bucsek, 2012), Bucsekatha gen. n. (type species: Bucsekatha sunda sp. n.), Bucsekatha sunda sp. n. (S Thailand, W Malaysia and W Indonesia (Sumatra)), Bucsekatha chonga sp. n. (SW Cambodia, С and SE Thailand), Dubatoloviana diehli sp. n. (Indonesia: Sumatra), and Dubatoloviana vieta sp. n. (Northern Vietnam). Twelve new combinations are introduced: Brunia aldabrensis (Hampson, 1914), comb. n., Brunia contempta (Rothschild, 1924), comb. n., Brunia elophus (Rothschild, 1916), comb. n., Brunia humbloti (Toulgoët, 1956), comb. n., Brunia lamprocraspis (Hampson, 1914), comb. n., Brunia squalida (Guenée, 1862), comb. n., Brunia usuguronis (Matsumura, 1927), comb. n., Brunia montana (Bucsek, 2012), comb. n., Bucsekatha brevivalva (Holloway, 2001), comb. n., Bucsekatha pseudobrevivalva (Dubatolov & Bucsek, 2016), comb. n., Bucsekatha nigriprosoma (Fang, 2000), comb. n., and Dubatoloviana fumidisca (Hampson, 1894), comb. n. Check-lists of all considered genera and subgenera are provided. Adults and male and female genitalia are illustrated.
