Taxonomic notes on Parnassius phoebus (Fabricius, 1793) (Lepidoptera, Papilionidae) with the descriptions of two new subspecies

Abstract

Two new taxa are described: Parnassius phoebus khangai ssp. nova (TL: Mongolia, Khangai Mts. (southern slopes), and P. phoebus kolesnichenkoi ssp. nova (TL: Russia, Siberia, the Yenisei river basin, Irkutsk redion, Uda river, Nizhneudinsk town vic.). The distinctions and relations of all phoebus-taxa known from Altai and Sayan mountain systems, Khamar-Daban and Khangai Ranges are discussed. The situation with P. p. fortuna Bang-Haas, 1912 is clarified, the status of the subspecies is confirmed. The well known old locality “Arasagun-gol” is clarified.
