Enfermedades diarreicas agudas en la población pediátrica en Ecuador 2013-2023: revisión sistemática

Abstract

Las enfermedades diarreicas agudas (EDA) representan uno de los desafíos significativos para los sistemas de salud a nivel mundial, especialmente afectando a la población infantil y a comunidades con recursos limitados. Esta revisión tuvo por objetivo analizar los agentes etiológicos principales y los factores asociados que han influido en la prevalencia de las enfermedades diarreicas agudas en niños ecuatorianos. A través de una revisión exhaustiva de la literatura secundaria en bases de datos y revistas electrónicas, se revisaron 32 estudios que destacan a los virus como los principales agentes causales de EDA en niños en Ecuador, siendo el rotavirus el más predominante. A pesar de que muchas investigaciones en el país se centran en el estudio de bacterias como causas de EDA, globalmente se reconoce a los virus como los principales responsables de estas enfermedades.
