Abstract

Rhynchophorus palmarum (Linnaeus, 1758) es considerada la plaga más importante de las palmeras aceiteras en América neotropical, ya que es el principal vector del nemátodo Bursaphelenchus cocophilus (Cobb), causante de la enfermedad del anillo rojo. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivos detectar la presencia de R. palmarum y conocer la variación temporal de este picudo en el cultivo de Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd. ex Mart. Para llevar a cabo el estudio se realizaron trampeos utilizando la feromona RHYNKO-Lure® (Rhynchophorol). Las trampas fueron instaladas en dos lotes experimentales de A. aculeata ubicados en los distritos de Hohenau y Bella Vista, Itapúa, Paraguay. Los muestreos se realizaron cada 15 días contabilizando el total de individuos de ambos sexos capturados. Se reporta por primera vez a R. palmarum asociado a A. aculeata en el departamento de Itapúa, Paraguay. El insecto fue significativamente abundante en las temporadas más húmedas y calurosas del año. También se observó una mayor cantidad de hembras que machos en los lotes evaluados.
