The Impact of Digital Transformation on Perspectives of Sustainable Green Economy Development

Abstract

This article explores the convergence of digital transformation and sustainable development as two interrelated vectors of societal development in the 21st century. Sustainability is significantly impacted by the intertwined themes of environmental innovation and digital transformation. This study aims to clarify how environmental innovation and digital transformation affect sustainability. The study’s methodology incorporates elements of a scoping review, grounded in a positivist perspective on the phenomena under consideration. Namely, how global issues, including resource depletion, social injustice, and climate change, can be addressed in several ways through environmental innovation and digital transformation. This study emphasizes how innovation and digital technologies must be included in environmental conservation initiatives. The implications of the systemic interactions between these vectors are outlined and analyzed, including their industry-specific dimensions. Particular attention is paid to the phenomenon of “twin transformation” and its role in the recovery process in post-conflict areas. The findings identify key patterns of the “digital green economy” as an emerging socio-economic formation and demonstrate that digital transformation serves as a critical enabler of international climate commitments, while also strengthening national socioeconomic resilience. Moreover, the study concludes that sustainable development and digital transformation must progress in tandem, ensuring the sustainability of digitization while advancing the goals of sustainable development.
