Este estudio se centra en las publicaciones de las universidades espanolas en la Web of Science (WoS) durante 2014-2016 (125.824 articulos) y calcula 17 indicadores con Altmetric.com. Se han establecido tres objetivos: 1) ofrecer una perspectiva general de las altmetricas en las universidades espanolas, 2) determinar la cobertura de Altmetric.com en el caso espanol y 3) establecer cuales son las altmetricas mas relevantes. Los resultados evidencian que el 42% de los articulos en la WoS estan indexados en Altmetric.com. Los indicadores generados por Twitter, prensa digital, Facebook y Wikipedia explican el 82% de la varianza. Como conclusiones se senalan que: a) publicar en revistas de alto impacto y en areas como Medicina y Biologia contribuye a que las universidades obtengan mejores altmetricas; y b) un numero reducido de indicadores es suficiente para determinar el impacto altmetrico.
