Se describen los dos primeros opiliones conocidos del registro fósil de España. Un ejemplar imperfecto procede de las calizas laminadas del Cretácico Inferior (Barremiense) del yacimiento de Las Hoyas (Provincia de Cuenca), y otro, completo y bien conservado, proviene de las lutitas lacustres del Mioceno temprano (Burdigaliense) de la cuenca de Rubielos de Mora (Provincia de Teruel). Ambos yacimientos son Konservat-Lagerstätten y presentan un abundante registro fósil de diversos grupos de plantas y animales. El ejemplar del Barremiense se ha clasificado como Opiliones indet. porque la mala preservación impide identificar caracteres diagnósticos de rango subordinal. El ejemplar del Mioceno pertenece al género actual Cosmobunus (Sclerosomatidae) y se describe como una nueva especie, C. sagani nov. sp., atendiendo a la escultura de la cutícula que, en conjunto, es única para el género. Se proporciona también una revisión del escaso registro fósil del grupo y factores tafonómicos que puedan explicar esta escasez
The first two harvestmen (Arachnida: Opiliones) from the fossil record of Spain are reported herein. The first one is an imperfect specimen from the Early Cretaceous (Barremian) laminated limestones of Las Hoyas (Province of Cuenca). The second one is a complete, finely-preserved specimen from the Early Miocene (Burdigalian) lacustrine oil-shales of the Rubielos de Mora Basin (Province of Teruel). Both sites are Konservat-Lagerstätten that have a rich fossil record of numerous plant and animal groups. The Barremian specimen is considered here as Opiliones indet. because the poor state of preservation does not allow identification of diagnostic characters at subordinal level. The Miocene specimen is a new species of the extant genus Cosmobunus (Sclerosomatidae), C. sagani nov. sp., diagnosed by its unique set of cuticle sculpturing within the genus. A review of the scarce fossil record of the group and some general taphonomic factors that may explain such scarcity are provided as well
