Abstract

Freshwater crabs and prawns, classified under Order Decapoda are the least studied fauna of the state Telangana. In the present work, the genus Caridina is reported for the first time from the states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with two species Caridina shenoyi and C. fernandoi. Five species of prawns and one species of crab have been studied first time from the River Godavari in Telangana state which were collected from four sampling sites in and around Bhadrachalam town.
