
Introduction: Feeding cattle on the outskirts of major urban centers has become a major constraint for agro pastoralists in Mali and elsewhe re in Africa.The peri-urban livestock system is undergoing constant change, with a growing demand for milk and meat, and even galloping population pressure. The objective of this study is to promote the practice of fodder crops for cattle feed in the peri-urban area of the Bamako district. Methodology: The methodology used was a descriptive study, based on documentary research and field surveys. The study involved a purposive sampling of 84 agro-pastoralists on 5 axes around Bamako: Kassela,Koulikoro,Ouelessebougou,Kati and Kangaba.The data collect ed by means of a questionnaire were entered into Microsoft Excel and then analyzed with SPSS v21 software.
