A New Genus of Caelostomini (Coleoptera: Carabidae) from Papua New Guinea

Abstract

Abstract The ground beetle (Coleoptera: Carabidae: Caelostomini) Stegazopteryx ivimkaensis new genus and species, is described from Ivimka Research Station, New Guinea. Its highly modified elytral form separates this species from all others in the tribe. Only Diachipteryx Straneo from Africa has somewhat similarly modified elytra.
