¿El nacimiento de una lengua afrohispana?: la influencia del español en el criollo inglés de Guinea Ecuatorial

Abstract

En la isla de Bioko (Guinea Ecuatorial) la mayoría de la población habla pichi, un idioma criollo de base lexical inglesa, como lengua materna y vehicular. En este capítulo se analiza la huella del español presente en los patrones léxicos, gramaticales y discursivos de los hablantes de pichi en el momento actual mediante el estudio de los patrones de cambio de código pichi-español, así como de los préstamos léxicos y estructurales procedentes del español. La influencia de este idioma en el pichi es notable, algo que ha contribuido al desarrollo de características distintivas que separan al pichi de lenguas emparentadas de África Occidental, como el krio o el pidgin nigeriano. El pichi ha sido receptivo a la hibridación con el español debido a una mezcla de factores lingüísticos y extralingüísticos propios de la ecología lingüística de Bioko. Sin embargo, este proceso no es completo, ya que existen grandes áreas de la gramática pichi que no se han visto transformadas por el contacto con el español. No obstante, el pichi, con su carácter parcialmente mestizo, supone un testimonio único de la herencia afrohispana de Guinea Ecuatorial.
