IN the museum of the University of Michigan there is a collection of bones of a fossil peccary, found in the peat-bog near Belding, Ionia county, Mich. The late Professor Alexander Winchell correctly identified the material as belonging to Platygonus compressus, first described by John L. Leconte (1848, 1848a).
