Abstract

1. Eine ganze Reihe von Geisteskrankheiten (Dem. paral., Lues cerebri, Dementia praecox) wird durch die Erhohung des Antitrypsinindex gekennzeichnet. 2. Der Antitrypsinindex ist erhoht bei solchen Krankheitsformen, bei denen im Organismus ein energischer Eiweiszerfall vor sich geht, wie z. B. Neubildungen, Kachexie, chronische und akute Infektionen usw. 3. Die serobiologische Methode von Abderhalden gibt uns die Moglichkeit, ins Wesen der tief verborgenen pathologischen Prozesse Einblick zu erhalten, sowie festzustellen, welche Eiweisstoffe gespalten werden, und von welchen Organen die Funktion gestort ist. 4. Bei Dementia paralytica und Lues cerebri ist hauptsachlich die Funktion des Gehirns gestort; bei Dementia praecox ist es dagegen vorallererst und hauptsachlich die Geschlechtsdruse und erst sekundar das Gehirn. 5. Bei den sogenannten funktionellen Psychosen, wie Psychosis period., Psycho-neurasthenia u. a. gelang es nicht, ein Organeiweis abbauendes Ferment zu konstatieren. Zum Schlus spreche ich Frau I r. N. O. Sieber - Schumoff, unter deren Leitung diese Arbeit ausgefuhrt wurde, meinen herzlichsten Dank aus.
