Abstract

AbstractEine Untersuchung von verschiedenen Proben von natürlichem Tremolit, wovon zwei außergewöhnlich rein waren, bewies, dass alle 1.7–2.5% Wasser enthielten. Dies Wasser wird allmählich mit steigender Temperatur abgegeben, ohne dass die Homogenität verloren geht, und unter nur sehr geringer Änderung der optischen Eigenschaften. Das Wasser ist demnach nicht chemisch gebunden, obwohl das Mineral im gepulverten Zustande auch bis 900° nicht vollständig entwässert wird. Es ist als gelöstes Wasser zu betrachten und der Tremolit als eine feste Lösung. Ein Diopsid aus umgewandelten Kalkstein enthielt 1% Wasser und verhielt sich praktisch ebenso, obwohl wahrscheinlich der Diopsid aus Eruptivgesteinen wasserfrei ist.
