Ueber ein neues Verfahren zur Darstellung von Metallen und Legirungen mittelst Aluminiums

Abstract

Schon bald nach der Entdeckung eines praktisch brauchbaren Verfahrens zur Darstellung von Aluminium durch Bunsen und Deville wurde von verschiedenen Seiten der Versuch gemacht, die reduzierenden Eigenschaften des neuen Metalls zu benutzen, und zwar in ahnlicher Weise, wie man bis dahin die der Alkalimetalle Kalium und Natrium schon benutzt hatte. Daher verwandte man wohl als zu reduzierende Verbindungen in erster Linie die Halogenverbindungen der Metalle, besonders die Chloride. So stellte Wohler eine kristallisierte Verbindung von Chrom und Aluminium dar durch Reduktion von Chromchlorid (Liebigs Annalen 106, 118); uber derartige Verbindungen hat er dann gemeinschaftlich mit seinem Schuler Michel weiter gearbeitet (Liebigs Annalen 115, 102) und solche von Aluminium mit Mangan, Eisen und Nickel aus den betreffenden Chloriden durch einen Uberschus von Aluminium erhalten. Er verwandte aber auch (in derselben Arbeit) ein Gemisch von Oxyd und Halogenverbindung und stellte so Wolfram- und Molybdanaluminium dar, nachdem er vorher (Liebigs Annalen 113, 248) schon Titanaluminium auf diese Weise erhalten hatte. Spater hat so L. Levy (Compt. rend. 106, 66) ebenfalls eine Legierung von Titan und Aluminium dargestellt. Ungefahr gleichzeitig mit jenen Untersuchungen war es auch Beketoff gelungen, durch Einwirkung von Aluminium auf eine Mischung von Chlorbarium und Baryt eine Bariumaluminiumlegierung zu gewinnen (Liebigs Annalen 110, 374).
