
Determining the residuary resistance per unit weight of displacement is one of the key factors in the design of vessels. In this paper, the authors utilize two novel methods – Symbolic Regression and Genetic Programming to predict the residuary resistance per unit weight of displacement. The results show that the proposed methods can accurately predict the residuary resistance per unit weight of displacement, which can be used to improve the design of vessels.
