Network mobility basic support (NEMO-BS) supports efficient group mobility. However, when NEMO-BS is applied to public transportation systems where mobile nodes (MNs) frequently get in/off, the location management becomes inefficient. This inefficiency is due to the frequent location updates required by the MNs. A new location management scheme, called Delayed Location Management (DLM), is proposed to address this issue. DLM defers the location updates until the MNs are stationary, thus reducing the number of location updates and improving the overall efficiency of the location management.
