
C-reactive protein (CRP) is a marker of inflammation. Atherosclerosis is now recognized as inflammatory disease, and it seems that CRP directly contributes to atherogenesis. Oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is a key event in the development of atherosclerosis. The interrelatedness between CRP and oxidation of LDL is discussed in this review.
