The feasibility of thermophilic and extreme thermophilic sulfate-reducing processes was investigated in three lab-scale upflow anaerobic sludge bed reactors. The results showed that thermophilic processes can be effective in removing sulfate from wastewater, while extreme thermophilic processes can achieve higher removal rates. The study highlights the potential of thermophilic and extreme thermophilic sulfate-reducing processes for wastewater treatment.
