Classification of Pistachio Nuts

Classification of Pistachio Nuts

Abstract

An algorithm using speech recognition technology was developed to distinguish pistachio nuts with closed shells from those with open shells. It was observed that upon impact with a steel plate, nuts with closed shells produced a distinct sound, while those with open shells produced a different sound. This method can be used to classify pistachio nuts based on their shell status. The algorithm can be further improved by incorporating machine learning techniques to increase its accuracy. The classification of pistachio nuts is an important task in the food industry, as it can help in sorting and grading nuts based on their quality. The method presented in this study can be used in various applications, such as quality control, sorting, and grading of nuts.
