During the topical treatment of patients with alopecia areata, 3 of them developed vitiligo. This reaction is a rare side effect of the treatment. The patients were treated with diphencyprone, an allergen that can cause an immune response leading to the destruction of melanocytes, resulting in the loss of skin pigmentation. This study highlights the importance of monitoring patients for potential side effects during treatment.
