Pregnancy complicated by cancer is relatively rare but, as women in western societies tend to delay childbearing to the third and fourth decade of life, this phenomenon is going to be encountered more frequently. The management of cancer during pregnancy is challenging due to the need to balance the risks of cancer treatment with the risks of pregnancy. A comprehensive review of the literature is necessary to understand the current state of knowledge on this topic.
