This research activity focuses on the study of marine sponges, specifically the species found in the southern region of Bahia, Brazil. The area is known for its reef formations, but only 22 species of sponges were previously documented. The goal of this research is to increase the knowledge of the sponge diversity in the area, which is essential for the conservation and management of the marine ecosystem. The study will involve the collection and analysis of sponge specimens, as well as the identification of new species. The results of this research will contribute to a better understanding of the marine biodiversity in the region and will have implications for the conservation of the marine ecosystem.
