Following wood pyrolysis, tar ball aerosols were laboratory generated from wood tar separated into polar and nonpolar phases. Chemical information of fresh tar balls was obtained from various analytical techniques. The results show that the tar balls have distinct optical and chemical properties, which are influenced by the pyrolysis process. The study aims to investigate the dynamic changes in the optical and chemical properties of tar balls and their potential impact on the environment. The findings of this study can provide valuable insights into the behavior of tar balls and their role in the atmosphere.
