Abstract

Environmental damage is human action that affects the quality and quantity of environmental components, generating pollution; and environmental crime is all unlawful, guilty and punitively punishable behavior that threatens environmental goods. Know and discern these terminologies for teaching professionals specializing in Chemistry reduce environmental involvement by academic / experimental activities and legislative compliance. The meanings of ‘damage and environmental crime’ were investigated in five graduate students of chemistry at UPEL-IPC, field research with qualitative analysis and phenomenological approach through an in-depth interview semi-structured. For a generalizable theory Continuous Comparative Method and Grounded Theory it was used. As findings emerged categories: (a) conceptions about crime and environmental damage, (b) causes of environmental damage and crime and (c) environmental awareness. Generating reflections on the causes and consequences of environmental degradation and educational proposals to prevent them.
